MATH:
This week I have added two scheduled virtual class sessions both on Thursdays. The first is at 11 am and the second is at 2 pm. It was so great to see everyone this week and students are bringing some excellent questions and discussions! Invitations to attend next Thursday’s meetings will be posted in my google classrooms about an hour before the meeting takes place. Also, we finished up the series on circles and added support material related to the Phase 2 packet. With the exception of circles, all this material is review of concepts previously covered this year. We are currently working to make available some material on Scale Drawings. This is a highly interactive unit and I encourage students to try out the resources the 7th grade math team has worked to provide. Our upcoming virtual meetings will include discussion of the material on scale drawing. As always, I am still available for additional support concerning any topic we have covered so far. Any requests may be made via my email. SCIENCE: Our final unit of study, "Atmosphere," begins this week. Please be sure to check our SCIENCE Google Classroom DAILY for updates and assignments. Anytime you have questions while working, please email me Monday through Friday. If you have further questions or concerns, I will have “Virtual Office” hours via Zoom on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 1 pm to 3 pm. An invite is required. The sign-up sheet is located on the Jaguar Team Website. IMPORTANT: If you DO NOT have access to a computer, or would prefer a paper copy of the DPS/GMS Instructional Science packet, please let your Homeroom Teacher know by email. Remember to do your BEST! Please enjoy the learning materials and have a safe week. ELA: This week, students should view the attached materials in google classroom on "Argumentative Writing." Students should revisit the nonfiction text in Studysync titled "Reality TV and Society" and complete evaluate the text for the author's strength in making a point and counterpoint. In classroom, I have posted additional videos for students to watch as review before drafting their own argumentative essay on one of the topics provided. I am also going to put together a Zoom recording to model how to complete activities from this point forward. Look for these videos to be posted on google classroom as well. SOCIAL STUDIES: This coming week we will learn about Concentration and Extermination Camps - particularly the inhuman brutalities carried out by humans against other humans there, will continue reading our historical fiction novels, and go on a Virtual Field Trip to Auschwitz. Check the Social Studies Website and Google Classroom for “Save the Dates”, details, and materials. Times/Dates: Book Club Chats Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 11:30 am via Zoom Live Social Studies Jaguar Team Time on Wednesday @ 2 pm via Zoom Live
