In order to provide our students with support, the 7th-grade special education inclusion/resource teachers Ms. Hemmings and Mr. Medju have a Google Classroom code: x6lijkau. This classroom code will provide students with contact information for Ms. Hemmings and Mr. Medju and resources that can be of assistance while working from home.

I hope you and your families are safe and doing well.
Welcome to Science At-Home Learning. We will implement this method of weekly Science instruction until the end of May or until directed differently by Durham Public Schools. Weekly review topics and assignments, as well as our final Unit of the year, "Atmosphere/Weather", will post on my Google Classroom site. Please be sure to look for invites into my new Google Classroom through your DPS email account. Furthermore, please email me at any time with questions or concerns that may arise as you are working. I will respond to your email immediately or within 24 hours Monday through Friday. Greetings Jaguars. In an effort to continue your students education during this time of social distancing, there is a new website for Jaguars team math students. The link for the website is https://sites.google.com/dpsnc.net/andrewsmath/home
I am in process of setting up Google classrooms as well and will be sharing invitations in the next day or two for students to join the class! The supplemental material is available in a digital copy directly on the website and there will be some new material available for students to try as well. I will not be entering grades for this new material as per DPS, but work will be considered for extra credit. As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My emails is [email protected] and I am still checking daily. Beginning next week, I will begin primarily using google classroom to get information to students. All students should already have an account for my class. I you have any problems logging in, please don't hesitate to reach out.
[email protected] The Githens 7th grade ELA website can be found on Githens website or at: sites.google.com/dpsnc.net/grade-7-ela/home Link to Study Sync User Guide: studysync_stu_user_guide_2015.pdf For students who were absent on Friday when I distributed consumable StudySync workbooks, I have added the assignments online with Studysync as review for our last unit.
The following assignment should be completed, as well as all skills focus videos and "blasts." All the readings include a first read as well as a close read. There is a blast that I have posted that also includes links to research as background information for "Thank You, Ma'am."
Additionally, DPS will be putting together supplemental learning packets which will be distributed at Githens from 11-1 beginning on Monday. These packets are likely to be highly beneficial in reviewing/preparing for EOG's. Please let me know if you have any questions. As most of you have heard, DPS has decided to close school for students and staff beginning on Monday. Today, I am sending all students home with their consumable Studysync workbooks. If students are currently missing any assignments, they may complete any of the reading/questions in the books for credit and/or additional ELA practice and review during any time away from school. The quarter is set to end on 3/26 with reports cards coming out shortly afterwards. All of the "Outsiders" projects as well as the argumentative essay for this unit will be postponed until we are back in school. Due dates for all of these assignments will be adjusted accordingly.
Additionally, to those who have internet access at home, I am assigning a series of articles on World War II and the Holocaust for Social Studies students. These articles will be posted on commonlit.org. Class code to join is 7VPYYZ. Most students should already have an account. There will be additional Social Studies materials on Newsela.com. Class code is R2R6WF. I will post mostly science-related articles here for additional review. As always, please email if you have any questions or concerns. |
